Dr. Block believes that the successful practice of medicine is the most challenging and fulfilling career choice possible. He especially enjoys the unique personal bond between the physician and patient as they work together to improve patient healing.
Dr. Block graduated from Washington University in St. Louis and completed his medical training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He had his residency and fellowship training in Internal Medicine at Cedars Sinai Medical Center and UCLA. He completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at University of California, Irvine.
He is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. In recognition of his contributions to medical education, he was awarded the USC Family Practice Attending Physician of the Year award and the American Academy of Family Physicians recognition award for teaching excellence.
He has also been recognized as a Physician of Excellence by the Orange County Medical Association and Orange Coast Magazine in 2005.
Dr. Block has held multiple leadership positions including Chief of Gastroenterology at Mission Hospital as well as President of Mission Internal Medical Group.
He has a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Reflux Disease.
