ISIS CS12

Do you have high cholesterol? If so, you may qualify for an exciting new research study! Mipomersen is an investigational medication administered in a weekly injection that is being studied to see whether it is effective at reducing cholesterol levels and whether it is safe. We are currently looking for adults with high cholesterol who are on a maximally tolerated dose of statin (i.e. Lipitor, Crestor, etc.) and have coronary heart disease, diabetes, or are at high risk for coronary heart disease. The following lab values must also be present: fasting LDL-Cholesterol of greater than or equal to 100 and triglycerides of less than 200. If you think you may qualify for this study or would like to hear more about it please contact our research team at the Mission Heritage Medical Group.

Caffeine before Nuclear Testing

Did you just recently have, or are planning to have, a nuclear stress test? In this research study we are looking for people undergoing nuclear stress tests to see if caffeine affects the results. We are trying to discover if the use of caffeine affects detecting heart blockages with nuclear stress testing. We are looking for adults with coronary artery disease (CAD), or suspected CAD, who will be undergoing a nuclear stress test. If you think you may qualify for this study or would like to hear more about it please contact our research team at the Mission Heritage Medical Group.

HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED A RECENT HEART ATTACK?

We are conducting a clinical research study to assess the effectiveness and safety of an orally administered investigational medication in patients who have recently suffered a heart attack.

To qualify, you must:

  • Be at least 45 years old
  • Have had a heart attack within the past two months
  • Not have liver disease
  • Not have symptomatic congestive heart failure (CHF)

Qualified participants will receive study-related exams and tests and study medication at no charge.

To learn more about this investigational study please call our research team at (949) 364-3388.

Cardiovascular Therapy CVT 3041

Are you a woman who is currently taking at least one form of medication for angina (chest pain)? We are conducting research about the reliability and responsiveness of a newly developed Women’s Ischemia Symptom Questionnaire (WISQ). We are looking for women experiencing angina with a frequency of about 2 attacks per week and have at least 3 months of documented history of stable angina or anginal equivalent (e.g. shortness of breath) that is relieved by rest and/or sublingual nitroglycerin. If you think you may qualify for this study or would like to hear more about it please contact our research team at the Mission Heritage Medical Group.

Mipomersen for Hypercholesterolemia

This study is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to assess safety and efficacy of an investigational medication, mipomersen ISIS 301012), as add-on therapy in high risk hypercholesterolemic patients. In the study, 200 mg of mipomersen is administered subcutaneously weekly. There is a 2:1 ratio of patients receiving the mipomersen to placebo. Patients must be on a maximally tolerated dose of a statin and have CHD, diabetes, or a diagnosis that puts them at least at high risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) events as defined by the NCEP guidelines (e.g. TIA, positive calcium score, etc.). Patients must have fasting LDL-C>100 mg/dL and TG<200 mg/dL at the time of screening. Lipid medications must have been stable for 8 weeks prior to study screening.
