Which to Use - ER or Urgent Care?

When to Use Urgent Care

St. Mary High Desert Medical Group’s Urgent Care Centers are managed by board-certified primary care physician who are highly skilled in treating the following conditions:

  • Sprains and simple fractures (sports injuries)
  • Ear infections
  • Sinus infections and sore throats
  • Colds and flu symptoms
  • Mild allergic reactions
  • Mild asthma
  • Fever without rash
  • Animal bites
  • Minor cuts and burns
  • Urinary tract infections

For emergencies or life-threatening situations, please call 911 immediately or go to the nearest emergency room.

When to Use the Emergency Room (ER)

  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Severe, sudden pain
  • Severe bleeding
  • Head injuries and other traumatic injuries
  • Loss of consciousness/passing out
  • Severe trouble breathing
