Important updates regarding Providence’s negotiation with Blue Shield
of California

Dear valued patients and family members:
For months, Providence has been negotiating with Blue Shield of California
for fair and sustainable reimbursement rates to pay our doctors, nurses
and caregivers for the essential services they provide to our patients
and communities.
We understand you may have received a letter from Blue Shield about this
impacting your ability to see your Providence provider. We wanted to update
that we are diligently working with Blue Shield to resolve this negotiation
and that you can continue to see your Providence providers with no impact
until June 1, 2024.
In the meantime, we encourage you to talk to your human resources department,
insurance broker or Blue Shield directly at
800-541-6652 to express your questions or concerns.
Patients with Blue Shield health insurance might become out of network
with their Providence hospitals, clinics and physicians if our contract
is not renewed on June 1, 2024.
We understand these negotiations can be upsetting and are difficult for
our patients. Please know, we are continuing to work with Blue Shield
in good faith to resolve this matter and remain hopeful we will reach
an agreement, in which case there will be no need for you to take any action.

to keep you and your family healthy, and we want to sincerely thank you
